Rosemère in Bloom Turns 35!

Gardening Bazaar, Secret Gardens Tour on July 14, Plus Photography Contest

In connection with the Rosemère in Bloom photography contest, the Town of Rosemère is pleased to announce the upcoming Gardening Bazaar on the grounds of Hamilton House and the community-wide Secret Gardens Tour, both of which will take place on July 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Gardening Bazaar

The Gardening Bazaar features a day-long lineup of fun activities for the whole family. Residents are invited to come shop for plants and tree saplings, as well as second-hand gardening implements, accessories, planters and antiques. New this year: previously loved and reasonably priced holiday decorations and furniture will also be on sale. This is a great way of giving a second life to donated items in good condition and raising money for a great cause. Additional donated goods will be accepted at the Ecocentre until July 13 and included in the sale.

Guests are welcome to bring along a picnic lunch to enjoy on site, while they admire the theme gardens at Hamilton House and go for a stroll along the boardwalk at the Bouthillier Marsh, two natural treasures that are definitely worth discovering or rediscovering! Local artists will also be on hand to show some of their work, and live music will lend an added touch of ambiance to this celebration of art and nature.

Secret Gardens Tour

Come explore a host of hidden horticultural gems as homeowners open up their yards to the public. This is a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Rosemère’s most striking private gardens. For $10, visitors will be given a map of all the points along the self-guided tour. Tickets can be bought at Hamilton House, at 106 Grande-Côte Road, on the day of the event (July 14 only, no advance sales).

All proceeds from the tour and the sale of plants and second-hand gardening items will go to Les Petits Plaisirs, a respite care organization.

Photography contest

Rosemère in Bloom is also a photo contest. Residents are invited to submit their favourite pictures of their horticultural creations by August 30. There are several different categories and close to 25 prizes to be won. For full details, please visit Rosemère in Bloom! The awards ceremony will be held in the fall.

“I invite all Rosemerites to join us on July 14. They’re bound to make some great finds at the bazaar and succumb to the charms of the Hamilton House gardens. During the Secret Gardens Tour, they’ll discover how talented our amateur gardeners are at creating spaces that are truly original. And local shutterbugs are encouraged to enter our photo contest,” said Mayor Eric Westram. “There’s no doubt about it: we owe our status as a ‘Community in Bloom’ to the green thumb and the imagination of our residents.”
