Rosemère welcomes the OSM for an exceptional evening of music under the stars
The Town of Rosemère, in collaboration with Externat Sacré-Cœur high school, is pleased to invite residents to a one-of-a-kind cultural event as the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) brings its summer outdoor concert series The OSM in the Parks to Rosemère on Friday, August 7. The evening will be part of Externat Sacré-Cœur’s 50th-anniversary celebrations.
This grandiose open-air performance, to be presented free of charge beginning at 7 p.m. on the school grounds in front of the new sports pavilion, is a chance for everyone to experience all the magic and majesty of symphonic music in a festive and friendly atmosphere. Under the baton of OSM Music and Artistic Director Rafael Payare, the orchestra will present a stirring program, notably featuring first violin and second associate concertmaster Marianne Dugal and principal bassoonist Stéphane Lévesque, both of whom have played with the OSM for more than 20 years.
“It is an immense privilege to have the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal play for us in Rosemère,” said Mayor Marie-Elaine Pitre. “Thanks to this collaboration with Externat Sacré-Cœur, we have the opportunity to offer our residents a cultural experience of truly exceptional quality, accessible to all and staged in a magnificent setting. This is exactly the kind of inclusive event that helps bring our community to life.”
The event’s emcee will be André Robitaille. Kicking off the festivities, young musicians from Externat Sacré-Cœur will give a special performance beginning at 7 p.m. And to cap what promises to be a memorable evening, a fireworks display will light up the skies above Rosemère.
“It is an honour for our school to welcome an institution of the OSM’s calibre to mark our 50th anniversary,” emphasized Jasun Taparauskas, Principal of Externat Sacré-Cœur. “The entire Rosemère community will be able to share in this momentous occasion, coming together for an evening of celebration and music.”
Rafael Payare added: “Summertime presents the ideal opportunity to experience all the splendour and energy of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal in a relaxed atmosphere. Giving these free concerts for as many people as possible is really important to me, so I’m very much looking forward to seeing you all on August 7 for a magnificent show in Rosemère, in collaboration with Externat Sacré-Coeur as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.”
Active transport is encouraged
To help traffic flow and make it easier for people to get to the concert, the Town of Rosemère is strongly encouraging the use of active transport. As parking in the area will be limited, residents are asked to walk or cycle to the event. Bike parking will be set up at the school and shuttle bus service will be provided from various strategic locations in the city, including the Walmart in Place Rosemère, the train station, the library and the Rosemère Académie Ste-Thérèse campus. Note that parking on streets near Externat Sacré-Cœur will be prohibited.
Residents are invited to bring a picnic, folding chairs and bottled water. For those who would like to purchase a meal or snack, there will be food trucks on-site starting at 5 p.m. Dogs will not be allowed on the concert site. The performance will take place rain or shine, but may be delayed or cancelled in the event of a thunderstorm.
