Smoke alarm inspection program

SMOKE ALARM INSPECTION PROGRAM

Each year, the Fire Safety Department targets 5,000 residences for which smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms (if applicable) need to be checked for proper operation. The Brigade rouge team is made up of fire prevention awareness officers. They carry out door-to-door prevention visits in Blainville and Rosemère as part of the smoke alarm verification program.

To ensure your safety, under the terms of Bylaw 884-01 on fire prevention, the building's compliance must be checked and our information on your home must be updated without delay.

For this purpose, if you received a letter, please fill out the questionnaire, to the best of your knowledge, no later than April 14, 2024 (It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete it): blainville.ca/feu

We remind you that a smoke alarm has a lifespan of approximately 10 years. As stipulated in the municipal bylaw, you must install one on each floor, as well as in the basement. Smoke alarms must be installed within 5 metres of any bedroom door. It is also your responsibility to test them twice a year (if your home is connected to a central monitoring station, please notify it before testing your smoke alarms).

For more information, contact the Blainville fire department at 450 434-5201 or incendies@blainville.ca.

Your cooperation is invaluable to us. Thank you for helping us save lives!
