Contaminated Lands

The Environment Quality Act (CQLR., c. Q-2) (EQA) requires the owner of contaminated land to send to the Ministère du Développement durable, Environnement et Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MDDELCC) proof of publication of a notice of contamination of the land in the land register. Upon receipt of the document, MDDELCC must send a copy to the municipality where the land is located.

Following the notices received by MDDELCC, the Town publishes a list of contaminated lands on its territory. It should be noted that this list is not exhaustive and that land that does not appear on the list is not necessarily free of contamination. In this regard, MDDELCC also maintains a list of contaminated lands on its website. Given MDDELCC’s mandate and its sources of information, we recommend that you complete your research with MDDELCC's data.
