Work in the Roland-Durand / A-640 Area: Traffic and Back-to-School Period
From August 3 to October 1, the first phase of cycling infrastructure work beneath Autoroute 640 will result in lane and sidewalk closures in the Roland-Durand Boulevard area. Planned for more than five years, this project aims to make a crossing long considered unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists safer by adding one-way bike paths and sidewalks on both sides of the boulevard beneath the overpass.
During the work, traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction. This configuration is temporary: once the project is completed, two lanes of vehicular traffic will be maintained in each direction, in addition to the new facilities for cyclists and pedestrians.
The Town is aware that this work is taking place during the back-to-school period. In collaboration with the Régie intermunicipale de police, the Town of Sainte-Thérèse and Académie Sainte-Thérèse, measures are being put in place to facilitate travel and ensure the safety of students, parents, and all road users.
When possible, motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and allow extra time for travel. Pedestrians are also encouraged to use alternate routes during this first phase of the work.
Traffic disruptions may continue over the coming weeks, through November.
