Now Being Accepted by the Ecocentre: Recycling of Polystyrene Foam or Styrofoam

ROSEMÈRE, December 18, 2020 – The Town of Rosemère is pleased to announce that, in keeping with its commitment to helping reduce waste at the source, polystyrene foam (bearing the #6 recycling symbol) is now being accepted for recycling at the Ecocentre.

“Polystyrene foam takes up a lot of room in our garbage bins and landfill sites,” said Rosemère Mayor Eric Westram. “Our Ecocentre is now equipped to accept these ‘ugly ducklings’ of the recycling world. Residents are therefore encouraged to drop off these materials, which will be given a second life in building various kinds of street furniture and other applications. Through this initiative, we are making good on our pledge to manage waste more effectively.”

This new practice applies to only the types of polystyrene foam listed below. All products must be clean and sorted as indicated on the designated bins at the Ecocentre.
