BiblioQUALITÉ: Rosemère’s H.J. Hemens Public Library Again Recognized for Outstanding Services
Once again this year, the H.J. Hemens Public Library in Rosemère has been awarded the BiblioQUALITÉ Level 5 Ribbon in recognition of the exceptional quality of the library’s services in 2024. This is the highest distinction given by BiblioQUALITÉ, the organization tasked with assessing all public libraries belonging to the Association des bibliothèques publiques du Québec (ABPQ) and participating regional BIBLIO networks.
The assessment process is based on a series of five measurable indicators identified in the Lignes directrices pour les bibliothèques publiques du Québec, namely:
- Acquisitions budget
- Hours of operation
- Building size (square footage)
- Seating capacity
- Human resources (full-time staff, librarians, technicians)
Libraries are rated for each indicator and given a final score. The ABPQ member average in 2024 was 72%. The Town of Rosemère achieved a score of 93%, earning it the Level 5 Ribbon for excellence.
The report issued by the independent organization also shows a 7% increase in library usage and a 43% increase in activities since 2023.
Satellite library
Residents are reminded that the H.J. Hemens Public Library will be closed until November while major renovations are underway. Most of the library’s services are still available in the interim through the temporary satellite location at Memorial Community Centre at 202 Grande-Côte Road (entrance in the back).
