The Town of Rosemère is a recognized organization under section 29.1 of the Chartre de la langue française (RLRQ c. C-11). As such, it benefits from certain powers provided for in sections 23 to 26 of the ''Chartre'' governing the use of a language other than French, particularly with regard to communications, service delivery, and documents.
In addition to these provisions applicable to recognized organizations, the ''Chartre'' also provides for situations in which the Administration may use a language other than French in clearly defined cases.The purpose of this specific directive is to:
- identify situations in which the Town of Rosemère may use a language other than French, in addition to those provided for in sections 23 to 26 of the Charter;
- regulate the conditions for applying these exceptions in order to ensure the proper and justified use of another language;
- inform municipal staff of the rules to be followed to ensure compliance with the Town's duty to set an example in language use.
This directive is an essential internal tool to support the consistent and rigorous implementation of the language regime applicable to the Town of Rosemère.
