Harvest Day in Rosemère: The Third Long-Awaited Edition

Our residents were delighted to take part in the third edition of Rosemère's Harvest Day on September 19. The event took place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a section of Grand-Côte Road, which was open to pedestrian traffic only for the occasion, in the area surrounding the library. The idea behind this festive, healthy, solidarity-based event is to mark the fall harvest with the community and also to support Moisson Laurentides, a major food aid pillar in our region.

"With the pandemic, residents have become more aware of the importance of buying local and eating healthy. We created this Harvest Day in 2019 to give the community a chance to celebrate this time of abundance together, to meet local producers and to stock up on seasonal food for the winter. Moreover, this event is also an opportunity for Moisson Laurentides to stock up on food as well. Last Sunday, the organization collected 113 kilos of food at its kiosk, which will be distributed to local families in need. I would like to thank everyone who encouraged Moisson Laurentides in this way, and I would also like to congratulate those who—despite the public health measures—succeeded in brilliantly adapting this third edition. I hope this event will become an annual tradition in our community every fall," stated Eric Westram, Mayor of Rosemère.

Nearly twenty local exhibitors

On Grand-Côte Road, in front of the library, visitors had the chance to meet nearly twenty local agricultural producers, farmers and artisans who presented their various products, most of them organic. Maple products, various fruits and vegetables, a variety of mushrooms, honey, fine herbs, blackcurrants, extra-virgin olive oils, ciders as well as hand-made soy wax candles and perfume oils—a whole range of local products with such appealing tastes and aromas.

In addition, entertainment was organized but kept to a minimum in order to comply with public health measures: a DJ provided background music for the event and a food truck offered comfort food.
