Heavy rains forecast: preventive operations at home and throughout the Town

Heavy rainfall is expected from Thursday to Friday. We invite all citizens to be prepared and to be on the lookout for water accumulation on their property.

Municipal Proactivity

Public works crews are mobilized and already hard at work to limit the potential impact of these weather conditions. The following preventive measures have been put in place:

• Cleaning of storm drains and mechanical sweeping to remove fallen leaves.

• Storm drains have been cleaned continuously since the summer to ensure proper water flow.

• Municipal pumping equipment and generators have been checked to ensure they are in good working order.

• Increased monitoring of infrastructure throughout the rain event.

We ask residents not to deposit leaves or debris near street grates and in ditches and to clear their storm drains if they become blocked.

Preventive measures for your home

During heavy rains, a home is vulnerable to water damage such as water infiltration, equipment breakdowns or sewer back-up.

Visit ville.rosemere.qc.ca/preventive-and-emergency-measures/ and its various sections to learn more about the actions to take at home to deal with severe weather, such as:

  • Using a sump pump
  • To protect against pump breakdown or electrical failure
  • Using a generator
  • The backflow preventer valves and its maintenance
  • Preparing an emergency kit

Your cooperation helps reduce the risk of flooding and ensure everyone's safety. Let's remain vigilant!
