Honoured Citizen Awards: Three Individuals and One Organization Celebrated by the Town of Rosemère
During an official ceremony held on the evening of Saturday, May 3, the Town of Rosemère paid tribute to three residents and one community organization for their outstanding contributions. The winners of the 2025 Honoured Citizen Awards were joined by their families and friends as well as several community leaders and elected officials. The proceedings began with some heartfelt words of gratitude, following which each of the recipients was presented with a certificate and a trophy. The newly minted honourees were then asked to sign Rosemère’s Golden Book.
The Honoured Citizen Awards have been given out every two years since 2017. There are a total of 11 nomination categories: Culture, Community, Environment, Humanitarian, Sports, Education, Youth, Business, Science, Technology and New Media, and Posthumous.
An additional award was introduced in 2019: the Yvan Deschênes Award, named in recognition of one of Rosemère’s longest-serving mayors and a driving force behind the Town’s growth and development.
The 2025 selection committee bestowed the Honoured Citizen Awards on the following recipients:
Éric Ledoux for many years of volunteer service to soccer, both in Rosemère and at the regional level (in the Sports category).
Alain Brunet for his long-time commitment as a volunteer with the Town of Rosemère and the MRC Thérèse-De Blainville (in the Humanitarian category).
Meals on Wheels for four decades of providing food and community support services to Rosemère residents in need (in the Community category).
Pierre Hardy for working with youth in Rosemère and nearby communities for several decades (Yvan Deschênes Award).
“Tonight, we have the privilege of celebrating some very special Rosemerites and a wonderful community organization whose determination, energy, kindness and leadership make them the pride of our town. Each of them has done truly remarkable things in their respective areas,” said Rosemère Mayor Eric Westram in his opening remarks. “To our cherished Honoured Citizens, you are our most important ambassadors and you have gone above and beyond in elevating the stature of our town. We are extremely grateful for everything you have done.”
