Marie-Elaine Pitre, Mayor of the Town of Rosemère, appointed Acting Warden of the MRC Thérèse-De Blainville

Marie-Elaine Pitre, mayor of the Town of Rosemère, becomes acting warden of the MRC Thérèse-De Blainville.


Together with Liza Poulin, mayor of Blainville, who was elected by acclamation as warden of the MRC Thérèse-De Blainville for a two-year term, they form the first all-female leadership team at the head of the MRC since its founding in 1982, marking an important milestone in regional history.


“I am grateful for the trust my colleagues have placed in me to serve as acting warden of the MRC Thérèse-De Blainville. It is a privilege to be able to work alongside Liza Poulin, mayor of Blainville, and all those who are involved in our region,” said Marie-Elaine Pitre, mayor of Rosemère.


Other appointments

The MRC council made several appointments:

• Christian Charron, mayor of the Town of Sainte-Thérèse, was appointed MRC delegate to the board of directors of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal.

• Liza Poulin and Christian Charron were appointed MRC delegates to the Table des préfets et des élus de la Couronne Nord.

• Liza Poulin and Marie-Elaine Pitre were appointed as delegates to the MRC au Conseil des préfets et des élus des Laurentides.


What is the MRC Thérèse-De Blainville?

The Municipalité régionale de comté (MRC) of Thérèse-De Blainville includes the towns of Blainville, Boisbriand, Bois-des-Filion, Rosemère, Lorraine, Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines and Sainte-Thérèse.


This regional decision-making body is involved in several areas:

• Land use planning: planning for land use and development

• Culture and heritage: support for cultural development

• Safety: civil security (emergency measures plan), fire safety (risk coverage plan), and road safety (awareness)

• Economic and territorial development: guidance and financial support

• Watercourse management

• Other mandates: public transportation, social and affordable housing, artificial intelligence, agricultural zone development plan, etc.
