Online public consultation begins today - Plan to fight and adapt to climate change

The Town of Rosemère is currently developing a plan to fight and adapt to climate change (PLACC) and to provide food for thought, it is soliciting the opinions of its fellow citizens through an online public consultation. By taking part in this consultation, Rosemerites can share their opinions on ideas for actions that the Town and its citizens could implement, as well as their concerns in relation to climate change. It will also be an opportunity to share what everyone would be willing to do to contribute to the collective effort needed to limit climate impacts and reduce our ecological footprint.

The aim of this PLACC development process is to identify the impacts that climate change is having on the local environment, residents and the Town’s administration. This analysis will help determine where action is needed to build community resilience. The PLACC will also indicate sources of greenhouse gas emissions and measures aimed at reducing them.

In addition to the survey, the online public consultation platform includes several sections, including documentation to better understand climate change and the current situation in Rosemère, frequently asked questions and an idea board to share suggestions.

"I invite all citizens to take part in the online public consultation. This participatory approach is essential if we are to build together a plan that reflects not only our territory, but also our values. Thank you for your commitment," says Eric Westram, Mayor of Rosemère.

Physical discomfort during heat waves, longer seasonal allergy periods, tree branch breakage due to strong winds, flooding and water damage during heavy rainfall, roads resulting from freezing rain: the impacts of climate on the population are numerous. That's why it's vital that the public be an integral part of the solutions to be implemented.

The online public consultation runs from May 13 to June 1, 2025. Take part in just a few clicks.

Three prizes will be drawn from those who complete the survey. Each prize consists of a $50 gift card redeemable at merchants located in Rosemère.

If you would like to receive a paper version of the survey, please write to communications@ville.rosemere.qc.ca or call 450-621-3500 ext. 1249.
