Preventive Closure of Clay Tennis Courts in Rosemère

The Town of Rosemère hereby informs residents that the three clay tennis courts in Bourbonnière Park, located at 333 Florian Street, will be closed as of August 5, 2025, and until further notice, as a preventive measure. During this preventive closure, a series of analyses and tests will be performed to ensure that Canadian standards are being met.

This decision was made following another municipality’s discovery of a product that was being used in the upkeep of playing surfaces that may contain a level of asbestos higher than the federal standard. This product is routinely used in Quebec and by a number of municipalities, including Rosemère, in the maintenance of clay tennis courts.

Given the checks that are currently being performed, Rosemère has deemed it necessary, as a precaution, to temporarily suspend access to these recreational facilities until the results are obtained. Note that the courts will continue to be watered in the meantime, in accordance with the recommendations of the Direction de santé publique des Laurentides, to prevent dust from becoming airborne. The Town is aware of the inconvenience that this situation may cause for tennis enthusiasts but stresses that keeping residents and employees safe and complying with environmental standards both remain a top priority.

Until the clay tennis courts reopen, tennis players are welcome to take advantage of the hard surface courts at Bourbonnière Park and Hamilton Park, located at 133 Du Parc Street.

Further updates will be provided as soon as new information becomes available.
