The Town of Rosemère advances in planning the development of the regional commercial hub.

Following the implementation of the Thérèse-De Blainville MRC bylaw allowing for a mixed-use commercial and residential designation for the regional commercial hub, the Town of Rosemère announces that it is continuing the planning of the sector’s development and that a Citizen Participation Workshop will be held in the spring of 2025.

To guide this redevelopment, the municipal council has chosen to develop a Special Planning Program (SPP): “The development of an SPP gives us the opportunity to define, together, a unifying vision for this strategic sector. This planning tool will allow us to maintain public control over the planning process while providing concrete means of intervention to achieve a development that meets our community’s aspirations. The feedback received during the consultation conducted by the MRC has already helped identify key issues that have been incorporated into our reflections,” stated Mayor Eric Westram.

Next steps

Over the coming months, the Town will continue developing a preliminary vision for this sector, based on the orientations outlined in its 2024-2030 Strategic Plan, particularly regarding climate change mitigation, greening initiatives, and the diversification of residential offerings. Additionally, the Town has requested an extension during the last municipal council meeting for alignment with the Land Use and Development Plan to allow sufficient time to complete its studies and analyses.

This planning concept will then be presented to residents during a Citizen Participation Workshop in the spring: “Our goal is to collaboratively create a redevelopment framework that will revitalize this area while respecting the identity and values of Rosemère,” concluded the Mayor.
