Rosemère in Bloom: Gardening Bazaar, Secret Gardens Tour and Monarch Festival

The Town of Rosemère is pleased to announce that this year’s Gardening Bazaar on the Hamilton House grounds and the much-anticipated tradition that is the Secret Gardens Tour will be held on Sunday, July 13, starting at 9:30 a.m., along with the debut edition of our Monarch Festival.

Monarch Festival

Rosemère was proud to be named a monarch-friendly community by the David Suzuki Foundation in 2018, in recognition of our pledge to helping this iconic pollinator survive and thrive. The Monarch Festival celebrates this commitment, which is consistent with the goal of “improving our natural environments” as stated in the 2024–2030 strategic plan.

The festival will shine the spotlight on civic engagement, inviting residents to play an active role in efforts to save the monarch and take concrete action to keep their numbers up in our area. The lineup of activities will include:

  • Awareness booths
  • Unveiling of a monarch butterfly garden and sculpture
  • Gift handed out to all young gardeners
  • Guide on how to create a backyard oasis for monarchs
  • Roaming entertainers.

Gardening Bazaar

The Gardening Bazaar is a day of fun for the whole family. There will be lots of affordably priced second-hand treasures up for sale, including plants, flowerpots and gardening-related tools, antiques and accessories of all kinds, not to mention holiday decorations and used furniture. This is a great way of giving a second life to previously loved items in good condition while helping raise funds for a worthy cause*.

Guests are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on site. Several local artists will be showing their work in the gardens, and a number of creations made in the Atelier communautaire d’ébénisterie de Rosemère (ACER) will be on display in Hamilton House for everyone to admire. Plus, there will be live music to lend an added touch of ambiance to this celebration of art and nature.

Secret Gardens Tour

Come explore a host of hidden horticultural gems as homeowners open up their yards to the public. This is a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Rosemère’s most striking private gardens. For $10, visitors will be given a map of all the points along the self-guided tour. Tickets can be bought at Hamilton House (106 Grande-Côte Road) on the day of the event (July 13 only, no advance sales).

* All proceeds from the tour and the sale of plants and second-hand items will go to Maison Parenfant, a respite care organization.
